What is a cookie and how does it work with the proxy server?
Cookies are small files that Websites copy to a computer’s hard disk. A cookie can have many functions. The session (i.e., temporary) cookie sent by the library proxy server records your proxy username and password so you will not be prompted to login again during the current browser session. When you exit the browser program, the cookie expires. As you access databases, they may also use cookies. Your ability to use those databases may depend on whether you allow cookies to be set.
