What is a DUP enabled HDD?
DUP technology is a process that will update the firmware of a drive with the system on-line, or from a bootable CD with the system in an off-line mode. On a DUP enabled drive, the drive goes off-line temporarily while the firmware is quickly updated. This process is a significant improvement over current methodologies of updating HDD firmware, which involves shutting down the system. Both on-line and off-line DUP updates provide a common interface and represent a time-savings for IT managers.
