What is a Gaming Convention?
A gaming convention is a gathering of people who share interests in a variety of aspects of gaming hobby. For those not familiar with the gaming hobby it includes, but is not limited to, Board Games, Card Games, Miniature Gaming, and Role Playing Games. Generally the hobby focuses on either fantasy or historical settings. To participate in a gaming convention you are required to register at the door or pre-register in advance, both options require a small fee with pre-registering generally being cheaper. After you are registered you may select events to participate in, however events are generally limited in the number of participants who may be involved. A gaming convention is not just about sitting around and playing, generally there are other activities occurring from breakout sessions (birds of a feather), costume contests, lectures, painting contests, socializing, and many many activities going on.
