What is a good natural fertilizer for my gardenia plant?
Most of the composted materials listed, or you can make ‘compost tea’ which is compost steeped in water, drained and then diluted and watered onto your Gardenia. Liquid seaweed extract is also great, whilst it will normally come in a bottle, it’s 100% natural and organic, and really promotes fantastic growth and blooming. I’ve used it on many plants, including Gardenias, for over 10 years. The compost tea is well worth making too, steeping some decayed compost in water for a day or so, and then diluting, depending on strength and watering in. You can make compost in places other than a compost bin, either a pile, or use an old tub etc, provided there is drainage – you can also improve aeration, to help speed the decomposition rate too. Hope this helps. Good luck! Rob August gardening tips – deadhead summer flowers, to promote their energy creating new flowers, instead of seeds.
