What is a good, relatively easy and preferably free solution to create websites using the Mac platform?

Well if your Mac was purchased recently or if you have upgraded iLife recently, you will have a copy of Apple’s iWeb, which is a WYSIWYG editor. I really can’t recommend it for anything over personal family web sites however, as the code it generates is pretty horrible. It also turns a lot of your text into images so that it appears exactly how you want it to, but this makes it invisible to search engines, screen readers, copy/pasting, etc. It is very easy to use however, it is much like a page layout program such as Pagemaker or Indesign. You just click and drag things wherever you want and it stays there. Like I said though, the code it generates is horrible. I purchased Rapidweaver at one point and was fairly impressed with it. It is strongly template based, but the templates are quite easy to customize. Once you get the template setup it is great for creating simple pages and also includes a fe
