What is a health professional shortage area (HPSA) and where are they located?
Health Professional Shortage Areas (HPSAs) may have shortages of primary medical care, dental or mental health providers and may be urban or rural areas, specific to population groups (i.e. low income), or medical or other public facilities. Delaware was recently approved for a federal mental health HPSA designation.
