What is a logging contractor?
Logging firms are small businesses, often family-run. They range from sole proprietors without employees to multi-crew operations employing in excess of 20 woods workers. These small businesses perform more than 95% of the logging in the United States. The Forest Resources Association estimates that there are about 37,000 logging contractors operating in the United States, employing a total of about 150,000 workers.
