What is a manipulated variable?
A manipulated variable is the variable that is manipulated or altered to the course of an experiment. Say for instance you wanted to determine if a new drug was effective in treating an illness. You may give half of the patients the drug and half a placebo. In this case the manipulated variable is the drug prescribed to the patients.
