What is a nested expression in math?
Nested problems have sections that involve working from the inside out…one part “nests” inside the next, and so forth. I’m not certain if you copied the problem correctly since you have an extra parenthesis after the 7. This appears to be checking to see if you can correctly use order of operations (PEMDAS). If the problem is 3 + (24/8) * 7 – 20, then 3 + 3 * 7 – 20 3 + 21 – 20 24 – 20 4 If the problem is (3 + (24/8) * 7) – 20, then (3 + 3 * 7) – 20 (3 + 21) – 20 24 – 20 4 If the problem is 3 + (24/(8*7)) – 20, then 3 + (24/56) – 20 3 + (3/7) – 20 (24/7) – 20 -116/7 Please clarify how the problem should be written.
