What is a Statistical Local Area?

0

A. A Statistical Local Area (SLA) is part of the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC). It is the base spatial unit used to collect and disseminate statistics other than those collected the Population Censuses. Many SLAs relate directly to Local Government Areas (LGAs) as they can have the same geographic boundaries or aggregate directly to LGAs. For more information see the Australian Standard Geographical Classification (ASGC) (cat. no. 1216.0).
