What is a throwback?
A throwback, or throwback jersey, is any jersey no longer in use by an organization. Over the years a club will update it’s color scheme and logo to reflect the changing times, leaving it’s old logo behind. In the late nineties, hip hop artists like Big Boi and P. Diddy popularized them by wearing them in videos and at award shows. Mitchell and Ness are the best known of the manufacturers, but Nike, Adidas, and Reebok have all released throwbacks as well. They are also known as Old School, Retro, and Vintage jerseys.
