What Is A Tyrannosaurus Rex?
The Tyrannosaurus Rex is one of the most powerful dinosaurs. Its name means ‘tyrant lizard.’ A meat-eater, it measured over 12 meters (40 feet) in length and possessed teeth that could penetrate bone, as the wounds found in other dinosaur remains have shown. The body of the Tyrannosaurus Rex was designed for hunting. Teeth that had fallen out grew back – not that it would have missed them with up to sixty teeth in its mouth! Its eyes were located in the front, rather than the side of the head, allowing for better vision. Some bones were hollow in order to compensate for its enormous weight. Tyrannosaurus Rex remains have been found mainly in Western North America. The largest found specimen is called ‘Sue’.
