What is aftershave lotion for?
Aftershave is a lotion, gel, or liquid used mainly by men after they have finished shaving. It may contain an antiseptic agent such as alcohol to prevent infection from cuts as well as numb damaged skin, a perfume to enhance scent, and a moisturizer to soften the skin. An alcohol-based, fragrance-free astringent can be used as an aftershave. It is said that the alcohol in the aftershave closes pores in the skin and prevents irritation (“razor burn”).
the name says it all… it’s a lotion that you apply after you shave… it’s to lock and replace the moisture of your skin after you shave coz shaving causes dryness to the skin, that’s why aftershave lotions are invented for that. it hurts or stings, yes, because hairs are protection for the skin and when you shave it, there’s no more hair protecting your skin from harsh elements, and also when you shave there are also instances that a very small (as in microscopic) portion of you skin will be cut so when you apply the aftershave lotion it will sting/hurt. the smell is part of the chemical ingredient of the lotion, there are lots to choose from so it’s up to you to decide which one suites you best.
