What is an adoptive parent support group?
A group of pre and post adopters. This group can be formal or informal. Adoption parent support groups can be agency directed, independent, religious, gender specific, race specific, or a host of other specifics. Choose one and draw support from them. They will know of your feelings, emotions, ups and downs. Parent group members have experienced your same emotions. It is important that once you have placement, to keep the parent support group relationship strong. Your child will see that families made through adoption are like other families, they just have different issues that arise.
