What is an ISO image and how does one mount it?
An ISO image is the ‘image’ of a CD. Except instead of a CD it’s a big file that goes on your hard drive. You don’t actually burn a CD, it’s like a ‘virtual CD’. You can use the ISO image to burn a CD later. You can send it through the Internet to someone instead of mailing a physical CD. Or you can run it on your computer as if it was a CD. To do this you need a program called Daemon Tools. It’s free, and you get it here: http://www.daemon-tools.cc/ You want the ‘lite’ version, which is free and does all you want. You run the program. You open it and ‘mount’ your ISO image. Then you open ‘My Computer’ and you find you have a new CD drive! That’s the virtual CD. You can open that just like a regular CD adn play the game, play music, transfer files, etc. etc. When you’re done, you go back to Daemon Tools and ‘unmount’ the CD, and that CD in My Computer goes away.
