The MIBI test has been ordered by your Cardiologist to determine if your heart muscle is receiving enough blood flow through the coronary arteries. An exercise tolerance test and rest test are completed over a 2-day period one test per day be prepared to spend 2-2 hours each day for these tests to be completed. The sequence of the exercise tolerance test and rest test is not significant. During both of these tests a small amount of weak radioactive material (also called an isotope) is injected into a vein while you are exercising and/or resting be prepared to wait approximately 1 hour after the injection before the scan of your heart is performed. The radioactive material is temporarily absorbed by your heart muscle which allows the camera to detect parts of the heart that are not getting enough blood because of narrowed, blocked, or damaged arteries. On the day of the exercise tolerance test you will be walking on a treadmill so wear good walking shoes! NOTE: For people who are unable
