What is appropriate for women tourists to wear in Morocco?
No topless beaches in Morocco. that is outrageous. You can wear your swimsuit. In tourist areas you can dress cool but it’s always better to be a little more conservative than normal. Marrakech is a hot climate in the summer, you can wear capris and cool cotton tops, and long airy skirts are very cooling for women. Denim is much too hot to wear in the summer. If you go to a breezy coastal area such as Essaouira, don’t plan on wearing loose skirts, they will just fly around and you will spend your energy keeping them in place. Fes is the religious capitol, so it’s better to dress more conservatively there and also in rural areas. You can buy a colorful scarf (millions available) to cover your shoulders if you wish, comes in handy if the evening gets chilly.
Depends on where you are going in Morocco but as you are going as a tourist then I assume it is to some resort town. You can where pretty much what you want on beaches but as said tight fitting tops are unadvisable as is anything else tight fitting when you are in town centres. You are not expected to cover shoulders, head, legs etc but just be thoughtful towards others. On some beaches, especially Agadir, you actually are allowed to go topless if that’s your thing and some hotels allow this also. Bikinis are also ok for the beach and by the pool at hotels.
It depends where you go. Really, anything would be ‘ok’ to wear, it just determines how much attention you’ll receive from men ie. men will call out to you more if you’re wearing revealing clothes. In places where you’d find a lot of tourists or trendy dressers it’s ok to wear more revealing clothes because the people are used to it. If you’re just out in a city somewhere, capris and t-shirts are always safe. Shorts and tank tops can be ok if you’re on or near a beach or in a popular tourist area, if not you’ll receive attention. For beaches swimsuits are fine to wear including bikinis. If you’re staying at a resort you can wear whatever you want there.
