What is being done to reduce the risk of Legionnaires disease?

0

The State Government has established the Legionella Risk Management Project to implement a comprehensive strategy to improve the controls and maintenance of cooling towers and to reduce the incidence of Legionnaires’ disease in Victoria. As part of the Government’s overall reforms, Parliament passed the Building (Legionella) Act, which provides for the registration of all cooling towers in Victoria, the development of risk management plans to address the risks identified for each cooling tower system and the annual audit of these risk management plans. As part of these reforms, the Government also introduced health, plumbing and building regulations to support and enhance the requirements in the Building Act.
