What is best way to remove rust spots from chrome silencers?

Buy some ultra fine Scotchbrite pads from your local car accessory store, its fine enough to remove the spots but not hard enough to scratch the chrome. Because it has rusted the finish is now compromised, you can reseal the spots by mixing up some epoxy resin ( like JB weld or Araldite) and put a tiny amount over the spots, rub it back down to smooth with the scotchbrite. This reseals the surface.

Try not to rub it… The rust particles will scratch the surrounding chrome ! Use a chemical to dissolve the rust first then I’m afraid you can’t just use some car polish to stop the rusting, because of the heat. The finish is ruined there. Sorry.
