What is Chronic Pancreatitis and its causes?
Chronic Pancreatitis is a chronic debilitating disease of the pancreas which results in severe abdominal pain, diabetes and malabsorption. It usually afflicts the young and adolescent and is a progressive disease. The common causes are tropical calcific pancreatitis (the type of disease most commonly seen in India) and chronic alcohol intake (which is more common in the Western countries).
