The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development will hold its twelfth conference in Accra, Ghana April 20 – 25, 2008. This major UN conference takes place at a crucial moment: the world faces a serious global financial crisis; negotiations at the WTO are in a stalemate, and progress towards internationally-agreed development goals is woefully inadequate, especially in Africa, and other third world countries. More than 4000 people from around the world – government representatives; journalists; senior UN officials and civil society groups are expected to gather in Accra, Ghana to review major contemporary international trade and development challenges.
