In First come first Serve (FCFS) if the first process is having the large burst time then it will have the huge impect on the average waiting time of the process , this effect is called CONVOY EFFECT.

Convoy effect is slowing down of the the entire operating system because of few slow processes. If a a slow process is utilizing the CPU it keeps the fast process waiting. This will lead to the convoy effect.
