What is Digital Phone service?
Digital Phone service allows customers to make unlimited local, in-state and long distance calls to anywhere in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico for one simple price as low as $39.95 per month. Digital Phone service also includes many popular calling features like Caller ID, Call Waiting, Call Forwarding, Speed Dial and more at no additional charge.
Customers who sign up for Cox’s digital phone service will receive a telephone and data modem from the company. They will no longer use their current telephone provider. Their existing phone line will run into the modem and the customer would get a dial tone on their phone just as they do now. The calls will be sent over a privately managed Internet-based network. This method provides better quality, a Cox official said. Customers will be able to keep their current phone and same phone number. —– To see more of The Macon Telegraph, or to subscribe to the newspaper, go to http://www.macon.com Copyright (c) 2005, The Macon Telegraph, Ga. A. Digital Phone Service is an acronym for Voice over Internet Protocol and is the same as Internet phone service. Digital Phone Service requires a high speed Internet connection in order to work properly (384Kbps minimum recommended). This service provides a way for people to communicate by using the Internet to carry their voice signal instead of a traditional phone line. Digital Phone Service is usually cheaper than traditional phone service but may require additional hardware to be purchased and installed in conjunction with your high speed Internet connection. Digital Phone Service through M33Access is currently available for $9.95 per month and includes Caller ID Number & Name, Call Waiting, 3-Way Calling, Call Forwarding, Call Blocking, Call Return (*69) and Basic Voice Mail. Long distance calls are just 3.9 cents per minute anytime, day or night, to the 48 states and Canada. International rates apply and can be found here.
