What is “Double Kiln Dried Lumber?” Why do we use it?

Our pine lumber is dried twice. Fresh cut pine lumber is first dried in a kiln (oven) to remove natural moisture. Is is then treated with Preserved Pine and dried again. We take our lumber to 20% moisture to help minimize/prevent warping and checking (cracking).
