FIA is a continuous flow technique wherein a highly reproducible volume of sample is injected into an unsegmented stream. The sample is mixed with one or several reagents in sequence by controlled dispersion under laminar flow conditions. After optionally heated, the mixture is delivered to the flowcell of the appropriate detector.
