What is Flower Essence Therapy?
A Flower Essence therapy was introduced by the English physician Edward Bach in the 1930’s. Flower Essences are not like perfumes or aromatherapies. Rather they are subtle “vibrational” remedies prepared from the fresh blossoms of plants. In this way, flower essences are similar to homeopathic remedies, physically very dilute, but energetically very powerful. They differ, however, from homeopathic remedies, in that they are not selected by the Law of Similars, nor do they need to be taken in “high potency” to affect the mind and emotions. Flower essences were first prepared from the dew found on fresh blossoms, irradiated by the morning sun. This method was modified by floating fresh blossoms on the surface of a bowl of water, which is then left in the morning sun for several hours. The warmth and light of the sun makes an energetic imprint of the blossoms in the water, which is then diluted and preserved in brandy to form the flower essence.
