What is Foothills?
Until the early 1950’s, citizens of rural Johnson, Lawrence and Magoffin Counties did not have a modern telephone system. Due to the foresight of some of the area citizens, Foothills Telephone Cooperative came about in 1951. What was founded out of a basic need for rural telephony service has become the backbone for the areas served in these three counties today. Providing local phone service, high speed internet, custom class calling features, long distance service and now super clear cable TV over fiber-to-the-premise (FTTP) network. This FTTP network was one of the first of its kind in the state of Kentucky to be built. As always, Foothills is staying way ahead of the curve. With FTTP, you have a fiber optic cable going all the way to your home or business from our communications center. That means that services provided to Foothills’ customers will only be restricted by the equipment on each end of the cable, because fiber optics have an unlimited capacity for content and speed. Th
