What is FTTH/FTTP?
It stands for: Fiber To The Home or Fiber To The Premises (offices, high rises). FTTH refers to a broadband telecommunications system based on fiber optic cables and associated optical electronics for delivery of multiple advanced services such as triple play of telephone, broadband internet and television to homes and businesses. This new communication medium will be provided by optical fiber systems to residential communities and commercial developments by partnering with developers and/or constructors. Today, only 6 million users are connected worldwide which is an increase of 140% since 2004. We have made the assumption that the replacement of current substitute occurs at the same pace that Broadband (ADSL) replaced dial-up (conventional telephone connection), if not faster, full replacement would be expected to be completed by 2013.
