What is happening with the model Regulations?

The Commonwealth, State and Territory regulators have worked closely together during the current year to develop the model Regulations to support the operation of the model WHS Bill. This work has also included the development of some priority Codes of Practice. A draft of the model Regulations has now been made available for a 4 month period of public comment which closes on 4 April 2010. After the public comments have been received and considered, a final version of the model Regulations will be prepared by Safe Work Australia for consideration and potential endorsement by the relevant Ministers representing the Commonwealth, State and Territory. The meeting of relevant Ministers is expected to occur in the middle of 2011.
