It is an improvement on super-threading. It debuted in U.S. Patent 4,847,755 (Gordon Morrison et al.) and can be seen in use on the Intel Xeon processors and Pentium 4 processors. The technology improves processor performance under certain workloads by providing useful work for execution units that would otherwise be idle, for example during a cache miss. A processor with Hyper-Threading enabled is treated by the operating system as two processors instead of one. Hyper-threading relies on support in the operating system as well as the CPU. Well Hyper-Threading is the one most IT technician loves about CPU. It’s the major thing why your computer can run multitask. Like fire up MSN Explorer, and your EMAIL. Well Hyper-Threading is somesort of thing built in your CPU. It runs quadriple cable. Did you notice that when you fire your InternetExplorer. You actually firing lots of task, like 5 of them. One of them running your Webpage. And the others will run something else, like Google or etc. Back in the old days. When it’s all about MS-DOS age. You actually need to run only a task. If you run multitask. Your computer will get stuck or we call it ‘Hung’. Well MS-DOS didn’t really make for multi tasking. But for now, most of computer is Hyper-Threading.
