What is HyperMemory?
Hypermemory is the term ATI uses to describe the technology that allows their video cards to dynamically borrow system memory and use it as video memory. The cards use the new PCI-Express (PCI-e) high-speed bi-directional data transfer interface to use local system memory to meet the video cards memory needs. HyperMemory uses intelligent memory allocation algorithms to optimize the use of available local memory and ensure critical components are placed in fast local memory when required. This allows data to be optimally assigned to local or system storage dynamically.
