What is LaTeX?
LaTeX is a typesetting program that takes a plain text file with various commands in it and converts it to a formatted document based on the commands that it has been given. The source file for the document has a file extension of .tex. It is widely used at MIT for theses and other technical papers due to its prowess with mathematical and foreign characters. For more information on LaTeX, see LaTeX on Athena, provided by the Athena On-Line Help system.
We carry only Englander latex. This is certified 100% natural rubber latex. Englander has trademarked the name Laytex™ to differentiate it from petroleum–based latex, though the term latex is used for both types. The difference between latex and Laytex™ is that the former is composed of some natural rubber and some petroleum products and fillers. The mixture varies from one producer to the next. Englander’s Laytex™ is composed of 100% natural rubber from a Rubber tree plant. This product is naturally anti–microbial, hypoallergenic, dust–mite resistant, and has a very long, useful life when compared to any other sleeping or sitting surface. In our opinion, it is also the best sleeping and sitting surface available today.
Latex in its natural form is a remarkable material, which is derived from the sap of rubber trees. It is known for its distinguishing elastic properties and durability. A latex mattress can be constructed of 100% latex or as a water-based latex (latex mixed with water). A latex mattress is the closest you can get to a memory foam mattress without paying for the visco elastic technology.
