What is meant by demographics?
When launching a new product a marketer must have a clear understanding of the customer who will ultimately purchase the product and to whom your advertising and promotion must appeal to. Understanding the age, financial background, education, occupation, attitudes etc. of your customer will help you to determine what type of promotion would stimulate them to buy, which magazines they purchase and read, which radio stations, and which television programs they watch. This will determine where you should plan to advertise.
