Jacob is the nation of Israel. The “time of Jacobss trouble” refers to the nation in the Last Days. At the very end, near the coming of the Messiah, the nation of Israel goes into a time of tribulation. That is orchestrated by its own administration and the evil people within it. The nation of Israel in the Promised Land at present is only two of the tribes, Judah and part of Levi.
