What is MLS ?
Multiple Listing Service is a computerized database of homes for sale. It is used by real estate brokers to market and promote their own listings and to cooperate with other brokers in selling each others listings for part of the commission. By listing your home in the MLS, it will be exposed to thousands of agents. A large portion of real estate transactions is a direct result of having been listed in the MLS. In Metro Atlanta, there are two competing multiple listing services. One is called First Multiple Listing Service (FMLS) and the other is called Georgia Multiple Listing Service (Georgia MLS or GAMLS). Sellect Realty will list your home in both because it is hard to guess which multiple listing service an agent will use to search for homes for sale.
Multiple Listing Service – This is the system that the Realtors use to share information on homes for sale, under contract and sold. The Multiple Listing Service (MLS) is the Realtor Association’s computerized list of homes currently for sale. MLS members are required to input all of their listings within 48 hours. A home listed in the MLS (called a listing) will quickly be seen by thousands of Realtors and their buyers.
