What is OS hibernating?

0

When you put your computer into hibernation, it saves your current work (system status, memory, and screen image) into your hard disk, and then the system can be powered off. When you turn the computer back on, all programs and documents that were opened when you turned the computer off are restored on the desktop. The advantage is your OS will not have to go through the initial boot- detection process. Note: Hibernation is made possible via ACPI. The Advance Configuration & Power Interface (ACPI) is the power management specification of PC97 (1997). ACPI “Suspend to hard drive” is basically controlled by the windows operating system. It intends to save more power by taking full control of power management to operating system and bypass BIOS . ACPI defines ATX momentary soft power switch to control the state of transition.
