What is outbound notification?
Typically, a user initiates interaction with a VoiceXML application by calling some phone number. Such a VoiceXML application can then initiate another phone call, for example to connect the user to a customer service representative. Some VoiceXML applications, however, need to initiate the entire interaction, rather than waiting for a user to place the initiating phone call. The ability for an application to place a call is known as outbound notification and might be used, for example, by an application that places a wake-up call.
