What is paintball?
In 20 short years, the sport of paintball has become recognized, as one of the world’s most exciting outdoor participation sport. Paintball is played in over 40 countries by millions of men and women of all ages and lifestyles. Unlike other extreme sports like mountain climbing, motocross, stock car racing, sky diving, whitewater kayaking, paintball is the only extreme sport that gives you a high adrenaline rush without a risk of serious injury, due to an error in judgment. It also does not require extensive training and has no barriers for gender, strength, or age. It is a challenging and exciting sport that teaches many valuable skills. The sport encourages youths and adults, and men and women to play together on teams. It encourages social interaction between younger players and adults and promotes equality between men and women. In order to play the game of paintball, you need the following equipment: paintballs, air supply, paint marker (gun), protective head/eye gear, and and the right clothes. Paintball is an exciting recreational game played year round. There are many different types of games played including elimination, capture the flag, and attack and defend. The most basic game, “Capture the Flag”, has an obvious objective. Capture the other team’s flag and return it to your team’s home base for the win, while defending your own flag from the other team! Each player uses a paintball marker powered by CO2 or compressed air which shoots the paintballs. The paintballs are colorful gelatin capsules filled with a brightly colored, washable liquid. Upon contact, the paintballs split open, leaving a splat of color that marks the player out of the game. The more opponents that are eliminated, the easier it is to capture the flag. Most games are around 20 minutes, so a marked player, while eliminated from the previous game, simply wipes off the splat and jumps into the next new game.
