What is Perricone Acai?
Perricone acai refers to an acai-containing product manufactured and marketed by Perricone MD. It is sold under a brand owned by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, a dermatologist and professor at Michigan State University. The product is called “Super Berry Powder with Acai”, which contains a combination of blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, cranberry and acai–a dark purple, grape-sized berry native to the Amazon rainforest of Brazil. Some companies also market their products as “Perricone acai,” even though Dr. Perricone has not officially endorsed their product. Dr. Perricone is often associated with acai due to his appearance on The Oprah Winfrey Show, where he touted the benefits of this chocolate-tasting berry. Dr. Perricone listed acai as his number one superfood, claiming the berry is packed with antioxidants, vital nutrients, minerals, essential amino acids and fatty acids and is high in energy and anti-aging properties.
