What is pomegranate seed oil? Where does it come from?
The pomegranate fruit has been used medicinally for thousands of years. In various religions, cultures and traditions it is often linked to fertility and women’s health. This is likely due to the abundance of ruby-red “arils” found inside the fruit. The arils are the individual juice sacks contained within a pomegranate. There are typically more than 600 arils found inside each pomegranate. Inside the aril is also a hard kernel, the pomegranate seed. Throughout history these seeds have been known to contain valuable and rich nutrients. By pressing the seeds, a very small amount of oil can be removed. This is how we produce our pomegranate seed oil. It takes over 200 pounds of fresh pomegranates to produce 1 pound of pomegranate seed oil.
