What is Pulmonary Rehab?
Pulmonary rehabilitation is a process of using graded exercise together with an educational program to allow persons with chronic lung disease to stabilize and control their condition and better cope with the physical and psychological effects of chronic illness. It is a medically supervised program designed to help people with lung disease cope with their illness and live the best quality of life they possibly can. Respiratory therapists, physical therapists or registered nurses can staff pulmonary rehab. Pulmonary Rehab offer a multidisciplinary team with the services of physical therapists, occupational therapists, respiratory therapists, registered nurses, social workers, psychologists, dieticians and exercise physiologists.
