What is ringxiety?

0
Debra Jenkins

According to a dissertation study from a doctoral student at the California School of Professional Psychology (source: Wikipedia), the concept behind ringxiety is a "sensation of hearing one’s phone or doorbell ring while doing such things as taking a shower, watching television, or using a noisy device," when in fact the device or sound is not actually occurring. This is considered to be like a "phantom ringing" and extends beyond just ring tones and doorbells to horns, crying babies, sirens, etc.
