What is scripting in Second Life®?
Scripting is a programming language, much like Javascript. Scripts in Second Life are written using Linden Scripting Language or LSL. The scripts can be placed in objects to give them behaviors, similar to those in HTML websites, providing interativity with the environment and avatars in Second Life. Animals, birds, and fish can be made to move, fly, or swim randomly; vehicles can be scripted to drive or fly; and objects can be made to turn on and off. Fireplaces and campfires are popular scripted items in Second Life, which appear to have flames and smoke particles.
