What is Sigma Lambda Gamma?
Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority, Inc. is an academic, cultural and social organization. As a historically Hispanic sorority, we feel that our primary goal is to promote our evolving rich and diverse culture. However, we strive to encompass all cultures to truly promote cultural awareness. Currently, Sigma Lambda Gamma comprises of forty six chapters and several colonies all throughout the United States. Our members have recognized the need for togetherness and support among women of all cultures at their universities and colleges. We are determined to contribute to the overall success of women in the world. Our History On October 22, 1989, a group of women gathered to form an organization for Latina women at the University of Iowa, Iowa City IA. The Panhellenic Council at the University of Iowa recognized Sigma Lambda Gamma as a sorority on April 9, 1990. We recognize this day as our founding day.
