What is SP/DIF?

0

SP/DIF is a 5:1 channel audio connector which is used to connect a DVD player to a Dolby AC-3 compatible receiver. Instead of sending just stereo information, it sends 6 separate sound channels to the amplifier. An SP/DIF connector is only useful if you have (or intend to purchase) a Dolby AC-3 equipped receiver and six surround-sound speakers.
