What is SSS Malt distilling with reference to the whiskey and beer industry?
I don’t know about “SSS Malt distilling, but malted barley is used in the brewing of beer, which can then be distilled to produce whisky. Most whiskies in Scotland are double distilled whereas Lowland malts and Irish whiskies are triple distilled. A whisky made from malted barley at a single distillery is called a malt whisky, and if it is from more than one distillery it is called a pure or vatted malt. Blends involve mixing with grain whiskies made from inferior grains such as wheat.
