STCW stands for the international convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping. These standards were agreed to by most maritime nations in 1995. All licensed mariners needing STCW were given until January 31, 2002 to meet all the requirements. OUPV and Master Licensed Captains traveling to/from international ports under the authority of their license are required to have Basic STCW training.
