What is Stored Value?

Instead of paying each time you use the T, you can “store value” (put cash) on your CharlieTickets and CharlieCards. Your fare will be deducted each time you ride the T, allowing you to pay as you go on the subway and bus. For example, a $20.00 stored-value card or ticket is good for $20.00 worth of travel. Remember: stored-value payments may incur a surcharge when purchased on a CharlieTicket. No surcharge is incurred when using a CharlieCard.
