What is the advantage of using DirectX as an audio driver?
Sound Mill uses Microsoft DirectX DirectSound (a free download) as an audio driver. Unlike some other audio driver software packages, DirectX will detect advanced features of your computer audio hardware and utilize those hardware acceleration features. Hardware acceleration generally results in much better quality sound production. Programs that do not use hardware features simulate effects using the computer CPU which may overload the computer or produce sluggish performance. DirectX DLLs are also well tested and will not lead to destabilizing the computer.
