What is the allure of the Alesis?
Ashkelon: Reverb, reverb, and reverb. Oh, and sometimes reverse reverb. I’m terribly fond of that. The allure of aging effect processor is that eBay makes them so plentiful and affordable. You can get a lot of value for your money if you know precisely what gear to choose. What does it give you that you cannot get from more recent gear? Alesis really got it right with this unit, when it comes to the reverbs you can produce with it. There is so much depth of field, and such a genuine warmth that comes through. I’m not sure what Alesis was doing different at the time, either. I’ve tried the Midiverb 3 and I have a Quadraverb. Neither of them can hold a candle to the sound of the MV2. Why do you have three of them? Oh man, I used to know someone who had four of them! It just multiplies the possible configurations.
